Hebrews 3:1-19 | Throughout the gospels, whenever Jesus confronted the Jewish leaders, they would often play the "Moses card." The writer of Hebrews tells us that Jesus is greater than Moses.
Congregational Prayer of Intercession
O God of all the families of the earth, we pray that purity, love, and honor may dwell in our homes, and duty and affection be the bond of family life; help us to train our children in the ways of reverence and truth, and keep those absent from us under the shield of Your care, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Hebrews presents Jesus as God's supreme and final revelation, superior to angels, Moses, and the old covenant priesthood. It explains that Jesus' once-for-all sacrifice and eternal priesthood (in the order of Melchizedek) establish a better covenant, inviting believers to trust, persevere, and live in holiness. The letter warns against unbelief and spiritual stagnation, celebrates faith through examples (Hebrews 11), and urges endurance under God's loving discipline toward the promised rest.
