CHESAPEAKE CARES FOOD PANTRY

More than a bag of groceries.

Hunger in our community is real. Every week, Chesapeake Cares Food Pantry distributes an average of 15,000 pounds of food to 1,100 families.

When a person comes into the Chesapeake Cares Food Pantry, they receive more than a bag of groceries. Along with the needed food comes encouragement, partnership, and resource opportunities. In a word: relationship. It’s through relationships that people experience a life-changing encounter and move from dependence to their highest level of self-sufficiency.

Common Questions

I need help. Where do I start?

Stop in during either of our Pantry openings (Tuesday, 5:30P – 7:30P, and Thursday, 9:30A – 12P), or call us at 443-257-3444.

How do I qualify for food?

There are no qualifications. You’ll receive food on your first visit.

Besides food, what donations do you accept?

In addition to food, we also accept paper products (toilet paper, napkins, paper plates, paper towels, etc.), hygiene items (shampoos, soaps, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.), and gently used grocery bags (plastic, paper, and reusable).

Can I donate clothes, furniture, and other items?

No, but there are other great organizations throughout the county that will gladly accept donations of this type.

Do you prefer donations of food or money?

Either is welcome; however, monitary donations or gift cards allows us flexibility in obtaining products at substantial discounts or sales.
