With the cost of heating fuel and electricity continually rising, many people living right here in Calvert County and across Southern Maryland struggle to heat their homes and cook their food. Our Firewood For Families event helps to meet their needs with firewood deliveries.
With our FFF events concluded for the season, Summit Men is gearing up for the next and excited to provide you, and your family, more opportunities to spend time in community with us. With your help, we are going to finish cutting, splitting, & stacking our remaining firewood in preparation for the next season.
There will be TWO Split and Stack Saturdays, March 18 and March 25, from 8A-12P.
Please let us know if you personally own Log Splitters or Chainsaws that you could use! Also, we ask that you please bring a breakfast item/dish to share with the crew that morning.
To RSVP for either one or both Split and Stack Saturdays, and to sign up to bring a food item or other equipment, click the button below.
Childcare will not be available, but we encourage you to serve as a family, alongside your children. Please note, that you will need to maintain 100% oversight of your children at all times.
This winter’s FFF event was funded by a generous grant from the Alliance for Green Heat, a non-profit organization chosen by the US Forest Service in 2022 to administer a national program to support volunteer firewood banks. Their funding provided necessary equipment such as a log splitter, chainsaw, firewood trailer, storage shed, and safety supplies that propelled our efforts to successfully supply our neighbors in need with heat this winter. Thank you, Alliance for Green Heat!
